Project goal

To contribute to the effective prevention of the repeated crimes and to the introduction and development of the thinking and behaviour correction methods in Lithuanian correctional facilities.

Project results

During the project implementation a study visit to Norway was organized for 14 Lithuanian correctional facilities’ officers, 2 Prison department representatives and 2 NGOs. Eight professionals were selected and trained to be the trainers of the cognitive-behavioural correction programme “Just you and me”. Training was conducted by the Swedish expert. Order for introduction and development of the correction programmes in Lithuanian correctional system was elaborated and approved by the Order No.V-315 signed by the director of the Prison Department under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, dated 13th December 2010 (Official Gazette, 21st December 2010, No. 149-7658). On 17 September 2010 Mental Health Perspectives organized a conference “Resocialization of convicts: introduction and development of correctional programmes in Lithuanian penal system”. The main goal of the conference was to introduce correctional programmes that are introduced in Lithuania, to discuss the importance of correctional programmes in Lithuanian penal system. In addition this was final event of the project and got a lot of attention from penal system personnel, NGOs and representatives of the academic institutions.
